Largest Hindu Temples In The World

1.Prasat Angkor Wat:

Angkor wat is the largest hindu temple in the world and the largest regious monument in the world.This temple was built at 12th century by the king Surya varman.The area(square meters) is about 820,000.This temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu.This temple is located at combodia.the temple is at the top of the high classical style of khmer architecture.this temple has become the symbol of combodia appearing on its national flag.and it is the main attraction for the country’s visitors.This temple is based on early Dravidian Architecture.The name Angkor wat means “Temple city” or “city of Temples”in Khmer Angkor means “city” or “capital city”.

2.Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple Srirangam:
Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple is the second largest Temple in the world and  largest temple in India , about 156 acres(631,000m²).This temple is located at Trichy,TamilNadu.This Temple is dedicated to Ranganathar,a reclining form of Hindu deity,Vishnu. This temple is constructed in the Dravidian style.The main entrance of the temple is known as the Rajagopuram .This temple is counted as the first and the foremost among the 108 divya desams dedicated to Vishnu.


3. Akshardham (Delhi):

Akshardham is a Hindu temple  in Delhi, India. Also referred to as Delhi Akshardham or Swaminarayan Akshardham, the complex displays millennium of traditional Hindu and Indian culture, spirituality, and architecture. The area of the temple is about 240,000m² . This temple was developed by  Pramukh Swami Maharaj. 3,000 volunteers helped 7,000 artisans and thousands of BAPS volunteers construct Akshardham.This is the attraction for new Delhi tourists approximately 70 percent tourists were attracted by this temple.The temple was officially opened at 6th November 2005.it sits near the yamuna river at the eastern new Delhi.


4. Thillai Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram:

Thillai Nataraja Temple is the fourth largest Hindu temple in the world.and the area is about 50 acres (160,000m²).This temple is dedicated to lord shiva.The temple is located in the town of Chidambaram,Tamil Nadu.The temple is, 78km south of pondicherry and 235km from Chennai. There have been several renovations in its history, particularly during the days of Pallava/Chola emperors in ancient and pre-medieval periods.  The temple as it stands now is mainly of the 12th and 13th centuries, with later additions in similar style.

5. Annamalaiyar Temple:

Thillai Natarajah Temple, Chidambaram is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in the town of Chidambaram, East-Central Tamil Nadu, South India.Chidambaram is one of the five panchaloga sthalams.The area is about 101,171m².temple is known as the foremost of all temples to Saivites and has influenced worship, architecture, sculpture and performance art for over two millennium.this temple is also known as the boologa kailasam or kailasam. there have been several renovations and offerings to Chidambaram by the pallava,chola,pandiya,vijayanagara and chera royals in the ancient and pre-medieval periods.


6.Ekambareswarar Temple:







Ekambareswarer temple is the hindu temple which is dedicated to lord shiva. This is largest temple in the town of kanchipuram in the northern part of the town. The gateway tower is about 59m tall, and is one of the tallest gopurams in India. This temple covers and area about 92,860m².This is one of the five major shiva temples.

7.Jambukeswarar Temple, Thiruvanaikaval:








This temple is located at trichy,Tamil nadu.This temple was built by kochenga chola about 1800 years ago.the temple is located at srirangam island. This temple is one of the five major shiva temples and covers an area about 72,843m².The santum of the temple has an underground water stream and in spite of pumping water out, it is always filled with water.

8. Meenakshi Amman Temple:
Meenakshi amman temple is an hindu temple which is located at the southern bank of the vaigai river in the temple city of madurai,Tamil Nadu.This Temple is dedicated to god Parvathi.The gopurams of the temples are ranging from 45-50m in height.The temple is about 70,050m².This temple gets an annual revenue of sixty million.About 15,000 visitors every day visiting the temple,In Fridays there will be more visitors.



9. Vaitheeswaran Koil:

This is a hindu Temple. The area is about 60,780m².

This Temple is dedicated to lord shiva and is located at sirkali,Tamil nadu.This The holy waters of the Siddhamirtham tank within the temple complex contains nectar and a holy dip is believed to cure all diseases.This temple is associated with the planet mars(Angaragha).


10.Tiruvarur Thyagarajaswamy Temple:





Thiyagarajaswamy temple is a hindu temple dedicated to lord Thiyagaraja. The two main shrines of the temple are for Valmikinathar and Thyagarajar.This temple is located in the town of Thiruvarur,Tamil nadu,India.The Temple complex occupies about 33acres about (55,080m²).
